An Interview With Caleb

Today, as I was wondering what on earth I could write about (again), Mom suggested doing a series of interviews with all my siblings at home. I thought it was a great idea. Caleb was more than happy to do an interview with me, so we went to my room, I sat down at the computer, and we began. I copied down his answers word for word, so you have the real thing here! I hope to do an interview with Timmy, Beka, and Matthew after this. They may vary in length, questions, etc. Hope you enjoy the interview! I sure enjoyed doing it!

Caleb's Interview

1: How old are you?

I am 8.

2: What grade are you in?

I am in 3rd grade in math, and 2nd grade in everything else.

3: What is your favorite food?

Chicken pot-pie. I like those.

4: What is your favorite color?

I don't really have a favorite color. I like a lot of colors, but probably orange is my favorite.

5: What is your favorite subject in school?

Math is my favorite subject, right now.

6: What do you like best about our family?

Homemade food.

7: Describe your normal day.

I get up, and I get dressed. And then I eat breakfast. Sometimes I don't eat breakfast, though, if Rachel hasn't made something good. And then I'll go do my math. And I'll do my reader with Beka when she is ready. Sometimes I finish my math before breakfast when breakfast is still cooking. Then I'll help Mom clean the house and then sometimes I'll set the table. And then after Dad comes over, I'll eat lunch and then we have dessert sometimes. And then we have devotions. And then Timothy, Rachel, Beka, and I do the dishes. And then we get breaktime. Most of the time Timothy and I play a game, or something else. And then when our breaktime is up, I help Mom some more. And then I play all the rest of the afternoon. And then Mom sometimes makes supper. When supper is over, Timothy and I do the dishes by ourselves. And then we play some more and then we get ready for bed. And Dad comes over and reads 'Lord Of The Rings' to us. And then we go to bed. Normally it takes a half hour to get to bed. And that's it.

8: What jobs do you have around the house?

Well, sometimes I sweep all the floors in the house, and I mop some floors if they need it. And I clean the bathroom, and sometimes I clean my room if it is my day. And I tidy things up. Sometimes I'll do a thorough cleaning. And I do dishes, and laundry.

9: Do you have a pet?

No. Timmy has a pet that is in my room, but it isn't mine.

10: What do you like least about our family?

Nothing.

11: Which season is your favorite and why?

Spring. Because I like it when the grass gets green and we plant the garden and it's nice to play outside.

12: What is your favorite animal and why?

Dolphins. I don't know why I like dolphins. I just like them.

13: What is your favorite thing to do and why?

Roller-blade. I like it 'cause it is fun.

14: What is your favorite book and movie?

My favorite movie would be 'The Absent-Minded Professor', and my favorite book, (I don't read it but I look at it) is 'Richard Scarry's Best Stories Ever'.

15: Do you have a hobby, and if so, what is it?

I was building a rocket that I was really interested in. I stopped because the dog ate it.

16: If you could own any animal, what would it be and why?

A lizard. I'd like to own a lizard but I don't know why.

17: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do?

I really wanted to go somewhere but I don't remember what it was called. I would like to duck-hunt there. They have three different kinds of ducks there.

18: What do you want to be when you grow up and why?

I would like to be an electrician. Because I like working with electrical stuff.

19: What is your favorite holiday and why?

Is my birthday a holiday? I really like my birthday. It's my favorite holiday because I get to turn older.

20: Anything you would like to say to my readers in closing?

I'm going to go roller-blading in a minute. It was raining this morning but I think it has stopped now. It is muddy outside. We just got a big rain.

The Weekly Bible Verse

2 Corinthians 9:6-7: Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Bits and Pieces

As Caleb mentioned above, we did get a 'big rain' this week. It rained all Monday night, very hard and very loudly. The next morning we got up to see everything flooded. I can't remember ever seeing such huge puddles! There was standing water everywhere. Nothing was draining! After a few days things got back to normal, but everything is still pretty muddy.

We're settling into the routine pretty well around here now that all the hustle and bustle with the holiday season is over. We didn't take much of a school break this year--we just took Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off--so that wasn't a big adjustment to make as it usually is. Spring is definitely on the way over here, and we are already looking forward to working in the garden, getting off school, and spending time outside with no shoes on!

A Word About The Weather

Pretty warm and spring-like for the last week or so. It got pretty cold on Friday for the first time in a while, with some snowflakes here and there. Chilly weather predicted for the next couple days, so I guess our 'winter spring' is over for a few days at least.

A Word of Wisdom

The worst thing about work in the house or home is that whatever you do is destroyed, laid waste or eaten within twenty-four hours. ~Lady Kasluck
