Dear Sisters,

Gerald and I are excited to be entering our seventh year with The Mother's Companion. As we look back over the last six years we feel very grateful for what God has accomplished. And how we thank God for you, for the many wonderful letters of encouragement from subscribers and readers, and for the many prayers which hold us up. We look forward to another year of sharing our lives together with you.

I am happy to announce that Bound VOLUME 5 is now available. It contains the six 1999 issues bound together with a twenty-page, two-column cumulative index, all between handsome and durably laminated front and back covers. The bound volumes are designed with convenience and durability in mind. The cumulative index turns the bound volumes into a resource center, providing quick access to answers for many questions about mothering. I frequently feel I could do with more strength. My thirteen year old son, David, can bring down a mature tree and remove the root ball from the ground single-handedly in a day! I find myself wishing I had that kind of strength, just so I could keep up with my toddler, Caleb, and the never-ending laundry! When our store of energy runs low, Christian mothers are blessed to have One on whom we can lean. We can say with the apostle Paul:
